🎳 Let‘s get bowled over by compromise

✍️

Multiple letters to the editor worth reading today re: strike

KSD board member Brian Brooks shares his feelings on the strike, a former educator urges compromise, and Van Cummings expresses a desire to see the public educated about the details of the Legislature's funding “fix”, saying:

"Richland became one of more than a dozen school districts across the state to receive regionalization funds without meeting the criteria set out in the legislation... by someone’s specific request. This appears to be an underhanded way of doing the state’s business while putting neighboring districts in competition..."

⭐️ Erin Anacker on John:

“John is one of the most remarkable people I've ever met. Perhaps his greatest strength is communication—he has an uncanny ability to meet people where they're at and bring them along in a new way of thinking.”

🌈 John‘s vision for the Tri-Cities

“We need to keep on the current trajectory of grassroots community building that's been happening in the last 5 years. We need to double down on the opportunity that we have to be a true global focal point for clean energy technologies.”

John’s recommendations

🌮 Food

Bulgogi or Bibimbop from Rice & Noodles on Court Street in Pasco. Unparalleled in the Tri.

🤸‍♂️ Activity

I love Tumbleweed Music Festival. Stripped-down music opens me up in a whole different way. Who knew a sea shanty could make you cry?

🌳 Location

I love going to Adventures Underground and browsing the used Just Arrived shelf. I've found some of the most mind-expanding volumes of my life on that shelf.

👥 Group

NAMI is doing incredible grassroots mental health advocacy work.

👩🏽‍🎤 Artist

Drewboy Creative has elevated so many amazing visual artists. If I have to choose one, I can't get enough of Heidi Elkington's work.

😄 People

Steve Ghan is a climate scientist going to incredible lengths to educate and advocate for transformative climate policy.

Zahra Roach is courageously living out her values in the political sector, a very difficult space.

💪 Projects

NAMI is always looking for people with personal experience of mental illness (or as a family member) to be trained and then volunteer to share their experience.

Make sure to you come to David V35's show at Drewboy Sept. 20!

I encourage everyone to join Citizen's Climate Lobby and to support the Sunrise Movement.
